The practice of supplying electricity to neighboring houses using extension wiring from the plug socket outlets on the distribution board or from any electrical connection on the premises is highly dangerous and illegal.
The above wiring method contravenes SANS 10142 and constitutes an illegal electrical connection. Please note that it does not conform to the Electrical Installation and Wiring Code of Practice and could damage private property, injure someone, or cause death.
Wiring connected and supplied from the main distribution board within the home is defined as installation wiring. Hence, the residence owner is solely responsible for removing the illegal installation wiring.
The owner will be fully liable if any incident, loss of life, or fire results from the illegal and dangerous wiring.

Dit is baie gevaarlik en onwettig om elektrisiteit te versprei vanaf die kontaksokke (“plugs”) van die verdeelbord of enige ander elektriese verbinding binne u perseel na aangrensende wonings.
Die bogenoemde bedradingsmetode is onwettig ooreenkomstig SANS 10142 en word as ‘n onwettige aansluiting beskou. U moet asseblief kennis neem dat hierdie bedradingsmetode die beskadiging van eiendom, beserings en lewensverlies tot gevolg kan hê omdat dit nie voldoen aan die Elektriese Installasie en Bedrading Kode nie.
Die bedrading wat vanaf die hoof verdeelbord of enige ander verbinding binne die woning versprei word,word volgens SANS 10142 gedefinieer as installasie bedrading. Die verantwoordelikheid berus uitsluitlik op die eienaar om alle onwettige elektriese verbindings vanaf die perseel te verwyder. Die eienaar sal algeheel aanspreeklik wees vir enige insident, verlies van lewe of brandskade wat as gevolg van die onwettige en gevaarlike bedrading ontstaan.
